Scandals

We are hoping that in the future it won’t be necessary to display photos like the ones you see here, but at the moment it is necessary to make public the inhuman treatment that some of our dogs have endured. It is part of our mission to put a stop to the mistreatment, by making sure the laws concerning the treatment of animals is followed and cases of known abuse are uncovered. Remember looking the other way when an animal is being mistreated doesn’t help. It’s up to us to be the guardians for the animals that can’t help themselves.

DOG HUNG UP IN DENIA

The last 15th August, 2009 the society for the prevention of cruelty to animals Denia (APAD) after an indication of a private person and in presence of the local police made a cruel find in a commercial zone in Denia:

A bitch hung up on a tree, a labrador's mixture, in advanced decomposition stage.

The hind legs were supported in the ground and its neck hung in a noose which it killed slowly, after a long death struggle and exhaustion, while it had to allow to fall down and died at last of asphyxiation.

A few days before a puppy with a terrible stench was found near the place, that is why APAD supposes that it is its puppy which had to witness this cruel act.

In view of this kind of cruelty APAD appeals to the responsibility of the keepers of animals from the beginning up to the end without any distinction of races. And not only as the law provide, but first of all following the morality and the respect for every living being, and complains extreme cases like the described which has no justification and are without every reason

The Animal Protection Denia (APAD) accuses the find of four new-born puppies in January in a rubbish skip which were condemned to a terrible death: by cold, suffocation, crushing or fragmentation in the rubbish truck.

APAD asks, UNTIL WHEN WE HAVE TO SEE SUCH THINGS?

And it is not only about the animals. We believe that the line which separates the ill-treatment of animals from the ill-treatment of people (and, first of all, children and women) is very thin; and that the way how some persons treat animals shows also the treatment which receive persons from  some barbarians.

APAD reminds that we offer information about how to treat dogs to each who wants it, apart from sterilisations / castrations to a low price with the aim to avoid dramas like the shown here.

We appeal to the general responsibility for the treatment of animals and so also the respect towards people.

Painful death of a puppy in Benissa (Alicante)

On 19.05.2008 a six-month-old puppy was run over by a Denia-Alicante train about one hundred meters from the railway station in Benissa.

This was only the beginning of this tragic event: numerous witnesses (train passengers and rail staff) observed how the dog survived in spite of the accident laying on the tracks mutilated and incapable of movement.

Stuck on the railway tracks, the terrified dog sustained several more severe injuries when further trains were to run over the track where the dog lay, unable to escape or crawl away.

Finally, the next day Tuesday 20.05.2008 the Dog Protection APAD Denia were called upon to put the terrified and horrendously injured little pup humanely to sleep.

An accusation was brought to the court of Denia because, according to several witnesses, the town hall Benissa were informed about a telephone call at the local police at the beginning of the tragic situation regarding the dog, but took no action or measures.

With this lack of action as a proven fact and the irresponsibility if proved in court according to law 4/94 of the Generalitat Valenciana about the protection of animals, the Town hall Benissa may find themselves liable to penalty.

APAD
awaits the result of the judicial inquiries.
